CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care

About the qualification

This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia. Educators at this level are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum that meets the requirements of an approved learning framework and for maintaining compliance in other areas of service operations. They use specialised knowledge and analyse and apply theoretical concepts to diverse work situations. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other educators.

Early childhood educators work in long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools or kindergartens.

Entry Requirements

  • Prospective students are must be atleast 18 years of age
  • To assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Angel Institute will conduct a Pre-Training Review
  • Required to complete the Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment, administered by and to the satisfaction of Angel Institute

Once you have successfully completed the CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care you can apply for jobs within the childcare industry which may include:

Course Duration

The program duration is typically 18 months. Students should also set aside 6 hours per week for self study time.

Delivery and Assessment

CHC50121 Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care is delivered in a real time virtual classroom environment in a combination of classroom and simulated envrionment. Assessment method includes Written Questions, Observations and Workplacement Tasks. Practical workplacement forms part of the course.

Classes are conducted online in a real time virtual classroom environment.

Practical workplacement

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 280 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency. Students are required to undertake supervised practical placement in relevant child care settings. Evidence provided by the supervisor will contribute to assessment of the candidate’s ability to work at this level. Students must also have a valid Working with Children Check.
